The Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has praised the loyalty shown by the midfielder Steven Gerrard. The 32-year-old England international has spent his entire career at Liverpool after coming through the youth academy at the club.

Even though he has had the opportunity to move to another club over the years, Steven Gerrard has resisted the opportunity. This kind of loyalty is extremely rare in current days according to the defender Jamie Carragher, who has also represented only Liverpool during his career. Steven Gerrard recently won his 100th cap for the England national team, thus becoming one of the selective players to have done so.

Jamie Carragher has said that this recognition is certainly deserved for the 32-year-old because he has been one of the best players in the country over the last decade. Steven Gerrard came extremely close to leaving Liverpool back in 2005 when Chelsea made a record £ 32 million offer for the midfielder. He also recently revealed that José Mourinho was extremely keen on taking him to Real Madrid two years ago. However, he has stayed at Liverpool due to the love of the club, and does not worried about the lack of a Premier league medal in his trophy collection.

"Steven Gerrard was good enough to play for Barcelona and Real Madrid. People always said to me 'you're loyal to Liverpool' but I don't think about it like that. I'm happy to be at Liverpool. Steven's loyal to Liverpool because he's had the chance to join some of the biggest clubs in the world and play with some of the biggest players [but has decided to stay]. Sometimes people outside the club forget how big Liverpool are," said Carragher. Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently said that Gerrard should consider moving away from Liverpool. Liverpool will be playing against Wigan during the weekend.

The Liverpool defender, Jose Enrique, has praised Jamie Carragher for his great commitment to Liverpool over the last 12 years. Enrique said that Carragher is one of the greatest servants to the club. He has become 34 years of age now, but, his energy level is still the same.

His presence in the camp is beneficial for the young players. As per Enrique, Carragher is a great individual and he always has valuable tips to give to the young guys in the squad.

Liverpool news reported that he had signed for the club way back in 1996 when he was just 18 years of age. He had made his debut for Liverpool against Middlesbrough in the semi final of the League Cup. He came to play as substitute in that match and performed decently. A few days later, he was given the opportunity to start the match against Aston Villa and he found the net for the first time for Liverpool in that match.

He soon became the favourite of Liverpool fans. He has been the hero of some of the memorable victories of Liverpool. He has played more than 700 matches for the club so far. Carragher has looked in good form in the matches that he has played in the current season and Liverpool would be expecting some exquisite performances from him in the further matches.

Enrique said that he also wants to serve Liverpool for many years like Carragher. He is enjoying his tenure at Liverpool. The team hadn’t managed to perform that well in the last season, but, Brendan Rodgers has come with some fresh ideas in this season. Hopefully, the players would execute the plans well and put up a better performance this time around.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that he is still learning many aspects of football, despite the fact that he is approaching almost 700 games in his career. The veteran is regarded as one of the best players to have come out of the Liverpool youth academy in the last two decades alongside Steven Gerrard.

The 34-year-old is coming to the end of his career, with many predicting that this would be his final season as a Liverpool player. He has been already taking coaching badges in order to prepare for life after his playing career is over.

Jamie Carragher currently has 699 games to his credit. Liverpool will be playing against Belarus in the Europa league qualifying round in a few days time. If the new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers selects Jamie Carragher for this match, then it would be a milestone appearance for the former England international. Yet, he has said that prior to the match that he still has a lot to learn and a lot of for the Liverpool team. He may not be featuring in the Liverpool first-team as often has in the past, but still the manager Brendan Rodgers regards him to be a vital component of the first team.

“Jamie would have to play 50 games a season for another three seasons to get there, which is a lot to ask, but at the end of the day records are there to be broken. And I have said all along that if anyone was going to break it I’d like it to be Jamie because he’s a lovely guy, a fantastic footballer and has a great attitude. But even if he doesn’t get there, to reach 700 games is a fantastic milestone, especially in this age of squad rotation,” said the Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

The Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has launched an outstanding attack on the Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda for his lack of workrate in the 2-0 defeat for the French national team at the hands of Spain.

The French were expected to reach the semifinals of the competition after coming into the tournament on the back of a 20 match unbeaten run. However, they were defeated at 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the competition, which once again reared the ugly head of France in a major tournament. Former Liverpool midfielder Alonso scored both goals for Spain in the 2-0 win.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who has not been part of the international team for the last couple of seasons, has said that the interest shown by Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda in order to track back for the run of Alonso is the best indicator of the French national team as a whole.

Florent Malouda was selected by the French national team manager as one of the few experienced players within the team. However, he did not utilise his experience, as he allowed Alonso to run freely into the box and score with a header when he could have tracked back.

"The thing that summed up France for me was Malouda's reaction for Spain's goal. It game of this magnitude, his reaction was disgraceful. You've got to show something, but there was no hunger or desire," said Jamie Carragher in an interview after the 2-0 win for Spain in the quarter-final stage.

This means that Spain will now be facing Portugal in the semifinals of the competition, while England and Italy will be fighting each other for a spot against Germany in the other semi-final. Despite having a lot of stars on the team, the French were unable to do well at a major tournament yet again.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that the new signings Liverpool have made this season are not alone to blame for the poor season they have experienced this season.

Liverpool just recently concluded the Premier league season in the worst possible fashion after losing 1-0 to Swansea. This means that they will finish the season with the record lows tally of points for more than 50 years. It is a very poor return on more than £ 100 million spent on new talent in the summer by manager Kenny Dalglish, who paid for the poor return by losing his job recently.

Jamie Carragher, who has been part of Liverpool for the best part of 20 years, has said that the new players alone are not responsible for the situation Liverpool currently find themselves in. Despite having won the Carling cup this season – their first major trophy in six years, the Liverpool owners decided to sack Kenny Dalglish. Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, and Jordan Henderson are some of the new signings who have been extremely criticised for their poor performances this season. Carragher believes that some of the experienced players should take the blame as well.

"I think they have had a lot of unfair criticism. Henderson, Downing, [Charlie] Adam, Carroll - whoever it may be, it's always been a new signing. Have they been scapegoats? Yes. But I think it's players like myself, players who've been here a long time who deserve more criticism than the new players. They've just been finding their feet, learning what Liverpool is all about. The manager brought Stewart and Andy in. Hopefully there's time for them to develop a good rapport," said Jamie Carragher. Liverpool have set a minimum target of qualifying for the Champions League next season to whoever takes over at the club.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that playing in the Carling cup final will be his biggest ambition as of now given that he has never played in the new Wembley as a Liverpool player.

The new Wembley Stadium was constructed a few years ago and a number of finals and other consorts have been held in this fantastic Stadium. However, Jamie Carragher – one of the best England defenders of recent times – has not played at this Stadium. However, the player sees the opportunity to play in the Carling cup final as the perfect opportunity to do so.

Liverpool are very close to achieving this dream for Jamie Carragher, as they have just beaten Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the Carling cup. The 2-0 win now means that Jamie Carragher will be facing just the semi-finals before they reach the finals of the Carling cup.

"I've played at Wembley once or twice for England but I've never done it for Liverpool. I'd love to do that. When we have reached cup finals in the past they have been in Cardiff, so I've never been there with Liverpool. There is still a semi-final to play over two legs and there are some massive sides in there so it is going to be very tough. We'll take the semi-final very seriously," he said.

Liverpool defeated Chelsea twice in the matter of a few days after goals from Martin Kelly and Maxi Rodriguez gave the Merseyside club the opportunity to play in the semifinals. Liverpool had just beaten Chelsea 2-1 in the league a few days ago. Regarding the youth potential at Liverpool, Jamie Carragher said that he is very much happy and looking forward to the youngsters like Martin Kelly become part of the team in a big way.
