XHAKA IS A LIABILITY – CARRAGHER

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is certain that Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is a liability to his teammates especially in the big games. Jamie Carragher ripped into the Swiss international after his latest red card in Arsenal colours. According to him, Xhaka is a good player as he has been consistently picked by the Arsenal managers over the years but he's a liability to his team during big games. Carragher also said Xhaka has shown his quality while playing for Switzerland and in some Arsenal games.

Jamie Carragher was in no doubt that centre referee Michael Oliver was right to give Xhaka a red card after his foul on DiogoJota when Arsenal and Liverpool met in the Carabao Cup first leg last week Thursday. He said Xhaka should have done better to stay with Jota who still had so much to do to score rather than commit a professional foul to go down to ten men after just 24 minutes.

The red card was the second of the season for Xhaka at Arsenal. He had earlier been sent off against Manchester City in the league at the start of the season. The former Borussia Moenchengladbach player was given his marching orders for a foul on Portugal international fullback Joao Cancelo in the first half. Arsenal were losing 2-0 to the home team when Xhaka was sent off. In the end, they conceded three more goals to suffer a 5-0 defeat and start the current league season with three straight defeats.

Xhaka would have missed just one game for his red card against Liverpool, but the extra red card from the Manchester City game in August means that the Swiss national team captain will miss the next two Arsenal games. He's expected to sit out the second leg Carabao Cup last four clash with Liverpool on Thursday night and the Burnley game on Sunday. Both the Liverpool and Burnley games are at home.
