PREMIER LEAGUE: CARRAGHER PREDICTS LIVERPOOL POSITION

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has predicted where his beloved club will finish at the end of the current Premier League season. Liverpool are the Premier League holders but their title defence has not gone as planned. Liverpool were strong contenders for the Premier League title until December when everything fell apart for manager Jurgen Klopp and his players.

After the thumping 7-0 victory at the home of Crystal Palace in December, Liverpool embarked on a wretched run that brought just two wins until penultimate Monday when the Reds beat Wolves 1-0 away from home. Former Wolverhampton Wanderers player Diogo Jota was responsible for the winning goal on the stroke of half-time. The win was a big boost for Liverpool as it brought the league holders back into contention for European football ahead of next season.

Jamie Carragher is Liverpool through and through having spent the whole of his career with the Mersyside club. The ex-England national team centre back has not been impressed with the recent form shown by the team in recent weeks and months but he was delighted with the win over Wolves at the Molineux. Jamie Carragher reacted to the win over Wolves on Sky Sports as he hoped that the win will spark a good run of results that will propel the club to European football next season. According to him, Liverpool will need an excellent run of form to force their way into contention for Champions League football though Europa League is still available if the Reds don't qualify for a Champions League spot via the league.

Liverpool can still qualify for the Champions League next season by winning the competition this season. The Reds return to league football at the start of next month with an away match against fellow European football contender Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
