CARRAGHER BACKS TRENT FOR ENGLAND SQUAD

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has backed Trent Alexander-Arnold in his bid to be a part of the England squad for the European Championships this summer. The Ex-Liverpool defender showed his support for the right-back after his performance against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Jamie Carragher praised the impact of Trent on the game after the England man scored the winning goal in the final minutes of the game. According to him, the Liverpool defender showed character after the recent setback of being left out of the last England squad during the March international break.

Trent has been able to bounce back from that setback with good performances for Liverpool and that has left Jamie Carragher impressed. In his first match after he was snubbed during the international break, the Liverpool right-back produced a man-of-the-match performance in the Premier League encounter at the home of Arsenal. He was impressive in the 3-0 away win over the Gunners.

England international Trent provided the assist for the first goal scored by second half substitute Diogo Jota before Premier League leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah added a second goal. Jota then scored a third goal to wrap up the win for the Reds.

Trent didn't have the best of games in the next match after the Arsenal encounter, a 3-1 away defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie. He was able to bounce back again with the 2-1 win over Villa on Saturday. Liverpool secured their first win at home in the league in 2021 with the winning goal from Trent after the second half goal from Salah had cancelled out the first half opener from Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
