Jamie Carragher Names Roberto Firmino As His Favourite Liverpool Player

Liverpool favourite Jamie Carragher has named Roberto Firmino as his favourite player in the current Reds squad. The Merseyside giants have been in stunning form in Europe over the course of the campaign and they most recently reached the Champions League final after warding off the challenge from AS Roma.

In response to this, Carragher was pleased with the impact on one Roberto Firmino, who has had a season of transformation with the Reds. The Brazilian took some time to adapt to the arrangement until Jurgen Klopp but during the 2017/18 season, he has been outstanding with 26 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.

In a report covered by Sport Review, Carragher said: “I love Firmino. He’s probably my favourite player! What Salah is doing is ‘wow’ but I love watching Firmino play; his touch, the way he links the play, his strength, his working back. And I can’t believe that some people still say we need a centre-forward!”

Alongside Firmino, the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been equally beneficial in the attack front and the former, in particular, has propelled the club to greater heights after netting 43 goals in his debut season. Salah’s performance has unquestionably attracted interest from some of Europe’s elite including Real Madrid but Liverpool are making a specific effort to secure the long-term futures of their players.

Earlier last month, Firmino committed his future to the Reds on a new long-term contract and the focus has now shifted towards Salah who is likely to receive a 200 per cent on his current wages. Talks with Mane are also being planned down the line but the Senegalese’s position appears rather safe when compared to the Egypt international. Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League final later this month and the trio are likely to play a key role in the club’s quest for a first European title since 2005.
