CARRAGHER CREDITS KLOPP FOR DERBY WIN

Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp was the main reason his team was able to see off struggling Everton in their Merseyside Derby clash in the Premier League on Sunday according to Jamie Carragher. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher lauded Klopp for making a key tactical change that propelled his team to a 2-0 win at home to Everton thus keeping their hopes of winning the Premier League title and the quadruple alive.

Jamie Carragher was delighted that the Liverpool managed was able to solve the problem of breaking down the stubborn Everton rearguard. The Toffees had adopted an ultra defensive approach for the game as they are fighting for their lives. Everton came into the game as one of the three teams in the relegation zone on the Premier League scene after Burnley beat Wolves 1-0 at home through the second half strike from Czech striker MatejVydra to move out of the bottom three and two points clear of the Toffees. Everton replaced Burnley in the bottom three after the Clarets’ win over Wolves.

Liverpool knew they have no margin for error against Everton if they are to keep their hopes of winning the Premier League title and the quadruple alive. They needed to beat Everton at home to pick the three points at stake and move back to within one point of league leaders Manchester City who had gone four points clear after thrashing Watford 5-1 at home on Saturday.

After a goalless draw in the first half of the Merseyside Derby clash between home team Liverpool and Everton, Klopp made a practical switch with the double substitution involving DivockOrigi and Luis Diaz. Origi and Diaz came into the game at the expense of Naby Keita and Sadio Mane respectively. Two minutes after the two substitutions on the hour mark, Liverpool broke Everton’s resolve with Origi heavily involved in the goal before he scored to seal the win.
