CARRA BACKS LIVERPOOL

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher lifted numerous titles with his boyhood club, but the Premier league title was won trophy that proved elusive for the footballer-turned-pundit.

He is currently working with Sky Sports as one of the main pundits and he feels that if Liverpool win the title this campaign, then it would even go beyond their 2005 Champions League win. This has far been regarded as the best achievement by Liverpool, as they came from three goals down to beat AC Milan in the final of the competition.

After having not won the Premier league since 1990, this would be a major achievement for Liverpool if they manage to topple the likes of Chelsea and Manchester city for the title. At the start of the campaign, they were rank outsiders to even finish in the top four, but a splendid form under Brendan Rodgers has made them title favourites. There are only a handful of matches left in the league, but Liverpool have the momentum to take them towards a potential title. Carragher has also said that it would be a great reward for Steven Gerrard’s loyalty to Liverpool if he manages to lift the league title this campaign.

Liverpool have home games against Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester city in order to overcome any great challenges.
“If Liverpool don't win the title now, everyone outside the club will probably not see it as a big deal - but I'm sure they will do inside as they really do have a great chance of topping the Premier League. The aim at the start of the season was to get back in the Champions League and that is pretty much secure now as I can't see anyone catching the current top four, and I think my old side will finish third at worst after Arsenal's defeat to Chelsea,” said the former defender.
