CARRAGHER REVEALS STURRIDGE PULLED HIM OVER HIS COMMENTS

Embattled Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge pulled aside the club legend Jamie Carragher over comments he made about his future, Carragher reveals.

The footballer turned pundit said when he joined the Reds team to Australia for a friendly game; Sturridge questioned his comments over his future at Anfield.

Carragher, Steven McNamara, Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger were part of the squad selected by coach Jurgen Klopp for the trip. They played against Sydney FC, winning the game 3-0.

Carragher claimed Sturridge saw it as the perfect opportunity to get the matter off his chest.

“As soon as I got on the plane, I could see Sturridge wasn’t his normal self with me. And he pulled me in Australia after the game, or at half time when we’d come off. He said ‘why did you say they should sell me?” Carragher revealed.

The Premier League legend added that he asked Sturridge; “well, what else can they do?!”
He added that the Three Lions star was unhappy with the response. Carragher said the player of Sturridge’s quality had to play or leave. Not remain on the bench. He said that Sturridge could remain at the club, playing from the bench as a high quality sub.

Carragher defended his comments as it was what he was paid to do as a pundit; praise them, and “give stick out.” He said Sturridge did not look like a player who wanted to leave the club, especially as many clubs have been rumoured to be interested in him, like West Ham.

Carragher praised the player’s ball control, his talent, pace and power. He added that his pace and power are nothing close to when he first arrived Liverpool. Carragher advised that Sturridge get more time in the central role so he could get goals as he is still electric like aged Jermaine Defoe.
