Carragher backs Adebayor

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that Crystal Palace should consider signing the duo of Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner in this January transfer window in order to improve their chances of finishing in the top 10.

Since they had no wins in the last five games, Crystal Palace have just slipped out of the top 10. This position could be worsened in the next few weeks if the poor form continues, especially as they face both Manchester City and Liverpool in the coming weeks, who are both in great form after qualifying for the Capital One cup final (check out this link if you fancy watching the game live at Wembley Stadium).

Scoring goals has been the main problem for Crystal Palace and Carragher says that the club should sign a couple of high-quality strikers in order to improve this area. Crystal Palace have struggled to cope with the absence of Gayle, who has been limited to only seven appearances this season because of injuries. Emmanuel Adebayor and Bendtner are two players who are available in this transfer window.

Both will not cost much since the former is available on a free transfer whereas the latter will come on a six-month loan deal. Bendtner is deemed surplus to requirements at Wolfsburg, who are very keen on parting company with the forward due to his off the field issues. He will have no trouble in settling life in the Premier League after having represented lads like Arsenal and Birmingham City in England.

Carragher says that signing Bendtner would be a no risk strategy to get some goals in the team. "I really don’t see what the problem would be for Pardew if he lands one or the other.

What has he got to lose? Palace aren’t scoring and if Bendtner or Adebayor don’t change that, they will not be in a worse position. Bendtner would be a loan deal, so should it not work out, he can just be sent back to Wolfsburg. Adebayor would be a short-term contract and could be released,” said Carragher.
